No, but they reduce the percentage of positive q's/answers you have and moves your answers down. Trolls can't stop you getting a higher contribution level to AB.

As an addition to drublic's answer, negative points will bring down your Positive % category.

In the final result does it really matter.If answerbag is a sort of popularity club and the people near the top are the masters,based on points,the validity of Answerbag is questionable at that.Many of my own question are good and valid but come up negative.I don't take it personally,for I see that many glance that the answer then quickly press the points button.What I have found from experience is that the lowest rated answers are the most inertesting and the standard answers are usually rated the highest.The rating of this answer will give you an idea of what I have said.
