Yes...about 20 years ago. Remember when Christmas was about children opening up wrapped toys under the tree and we didn't have to spend over $20 to see happy smiles on their faces? Last year I spent over $700 for 14 people and I am looking at cutting that in half this year so I can pay P.G.E. for their latest increase.

absolutely

Yes, definitely... Every Holiday is. When kids are no longer satisfied with whatever you can get, and demand certain things that cost a certain price, and hate you when you don't buy it, somethings definitely wrong. My BF's daughter lives with her mom. Mom spoils her. She wanted a laptop last year from her dad ($1400.00 for the one she wanted) there's a desktop pc in the home. She threw a massive fit when she didn't get it, Kicking and Screaming and Crying. I'm thankful I wasn't there to witness it. Then he gets to hear both her and the mom scream over it for the next 10 months. That is completely insane...

Many years ago..when we heard a kid, looking over a mountain of wrapping paper and tons of gifts, say to his parents, "is that all there is?" That did it for us..we try to ignore Christmas as it is celebrated here because its meaning has changed from what it was to what it now represents..although, with this economy perhaps even that will be modified. We hope so..for the sake of the kids, who are probably already far too spoiled to be redeemed. :(

Well, yes. It's not even a religious holiday to most people, just an excuse to buy, buy, buy.

Yes, and for many, many years now. In England, where they don't have Thanksgiving, you can see Christmas goods in the shops as early as September, which is way too early.

Yes.

One is overloaded with christmas messages, pictures, songs, gift possibilities etc by the time the day arrives. All the energy is spent and one sits like a tired statue next to the christmas tree. The original message is lost.
