There's not an exact period of time, that fits all cases of course, but I would say when the relationship has evolved into a commitment of sorts. Of course you can introduce someone you just "like" or are beggining to date to your parents, but maybe avoiding too formal a setting.

If they are young enough, it could be first date as I think that it's a good thing for all parents to know who their child is dating. If they are adults, I think anytime is a good time, whatever works for them.

They'll know when things are potentially getting serious..you don't drag some casual date to meet your folks..if you're both on the same page and feel that the relationship has legs and can keep growing, that is a good time to let the parents in on it. :)
