  • Yes, as it is their job, their responsibility to properly raise the children and give tem a good foundation on which to build upon later in life.
  • To a certain extent, yes. Up until they are eighteen, their children and their children's actions are the responsibility of the parents.
  • Yes, both legally and morally. Parents have a responsibility to care for and to educate their children till they at least reach age 18. It is well known that the bulk of moral and social development of a child is during the earliest years of the childs life, so it is the parents responsibility to provide a caring and emotionally secure home. From what I have seen in my life so far, it is what makes all the difference in life.
  • I think they have to be as long as the children are under the legal age of adulthood. Once they have raised them and they are out on their own they are responsible for their actions. Even if the parents let them continue to live with them, they should not be responsible if they have not obviously helped or contributed to a bad action by their grown child.
  • The phrase goes: Children learn what they live! I believe we as parents are just as responsible as our children, good or bad!
  • Yes. At the age of majority they are on their own. I believe that the parent(s) should be responsible for any damage done to others by their offspring; they are also responsible for their shelter, education, health, personal habits.
  • Yes..until they reach the age of 18, when they are responsible for themselves.
  • NOO, because each persone is thmselves haha i dunno but noo they should not be responsible (only to teach respect and responsibility) but the rest is not up to them each person as an individual has their own mind and thinks diffrently and should know better and if the F**** up then they will have consequences but if they never F**** up they will never learn... :) and i have one little girl and so far its working perfectly
  • Oh, you mean like in the case of the 10 yr. old boy who started a fire and it spread through many acres and it burned down several homes? And now he's not being punished by the law? Yeah, if I were his parents I'd put his little punk-as to work helping those people directly. He needs to know that he has changed and possibly destroyed those people's lives forever. So my answer is yes.
  • No they should not, tehir child made the choice even if they were raised well. They have a brain of their own. Their parents didnt help them tell them or control what they did.. Its like saying i am a twelve year old girl.. and i intentionally go smash a car window.. does this now mean that OH my parents should go to jail... "they should've raised you better" .. NO dont be a fool and be caught up in all that bull where society is leading you to think that so and such should be responsible because of whatever and what not. NO, life doesnt work that way.. do you think that in the case of the twelve year old girl.. she had absolutely no idea what she was doing! obviously not, she sub consiously did it right? Good question BTW :)
  • if there under the age of 18 i would say yes

  • YES!!!!!
  • Depends on how old the child is. If they're over 16, then no.
  • Yes they should. The problem is there are so many kids out there having kids that society is almost in ruins.
  • Depends on the age of the child, the behavior, whether the child has any type of disability, and whether the parent has asked for help if they could not control their child.
  • no the children should be held responsible because its is the toughts and their body which is involved in these bad actions. the parents should be as responsilble because children change through out life and parents cant always control what their children do.
  • Yes, until the kid is old enough to be considered an adult by the law where you are.
  • Yes. There r no bad students only teachers.
  • I think so. The child, depending on how old it is, does not know any better. They have to be taught. Now, for instance, if the child was 13, they know the way they should act and behave, but if they don't take that action, then the parents are not held responsible.
  • I have always taught my kids consequences by their actions. I usually sit back and allow them to understand why when you do this wrong, that happens. If well parented... Kids never have to actually make half of the horrible mistakes in life because they have already learned on a smaller scale from the little things and their consequences. Parents are legally responsable for their childrens behavior and that is how it should be, because where else are they going to learn how to become responsable adults? The example they are given, sets the pace for the end result in their own lives... No?
  • Parents should TAKE responsibility for their children's behaviour. Ok, there are always exceptions, but most parents are the role models for their children. Yes, children are capable of having their own thoughts and emotions, but it is in the home that they learn their values. But.. at what age, and for what behaviours? Is it necessary for a parent to be held responsible for their 2 year old biting another child in kindergarten? Should the parents of the two boys who killed the two year old Jamie Bulger be held responsible? But, the issues in between - not doing homework, being rude to people in the street, giving cheek to teachers - those are the things that parents should take on board and act upon, and thereby take responsibility for.
  • Absolutely.Thats one of the biggest problems with children now.Their parents dont want to take responsibility for them and they're raised by the television and computer.Which the parents dont moniter anyway.
  • Not so long as the State restricts parents from raising their children according to the standards they believe in. Once the State has stepped in and taken control, it takes responsibility as well.
  • For some parents, It can be said with certainty that children bad behaviors is due to parents irresponsibility. On the other hand, for some this statement absolutely contradict. Parenting is no doubt not an easy task, Some parents are very careful in the early ages of child, to correctly apply method and techniques of effective parenting, and setting limits and rules. So that periodically they can check on their child. But unfortunately, if some of the parents held responsible for children bad behaviors like, substance abuse, lying, stealing, arguing, school issues, motivational problem, then parents certainly need to consider an intervention plan/program. Something like the total transformation or Home based intervention plan i.e Home Intervention System that works best for behavior modification for children age 5 or above. http://homeinterventionsystem.com
  • Definately - negative behaviours often arise from lack of praise and positive time-together, alongside inconsistency in boundaries and routines. There are hundreds of excellent parenting courses available to ALL parents. Unless there is an underlying medical condition or the child has been affected by things such as domestic abuse, bereavement etc - there really is no excuse. I think parenting courses should be made compulsory on conception of a child.
  • while raising them up ..who else should be held responsible for a toddlers 'bad behavior'? the dog? i never blame a bad behaving toddler acting bad and disrespectful in public....i look straight at the blame....the parent.....'u never want to RAISE a child society hates to see coming'....what my dad always said....but once that child is of a 'knowing 'age, right and wrong...they will choose a path and no u can't be responsible IF u did the best u could....the Prodigal son....that son had good parents, he was just rebellious, which we all have in us...some act on it ,some don't..... it STARTS AT HOME...u have a kid in an unstable, family life doing bad at school, its not the teacher, though thats who they want to blame....its a parents blame....and none other....
  • no parents should not be responsible. you can teach your child all you know but they still gonna do what they please or as they say the "in" crowd do.. Most adults try hard to provide for kids while the child is going astray because he or she wants to be rebellious a trick of the enemy. My father used to say be a good moral(do right even when nobody is looking at you) its all about character..
  • Big time. . . . . . .IF. . . . . .they're the ones who raised them!
  • Depends on the age of the child, some, not all.
  • I believe so!
  • i think so
  • If parents are not held responsible for their children's behavior, then who is there to blame?

  • i think so
