Why do people make fun of Catholics?

People make fun of all religions. I don't think Catholics have cornered the market on teasing, ridicule or comedy skits. There are a lot of things in the Catholic religion that are purely "tradition" and not a teaching from the Bible. My favorite is the "confession" aspect. Second choice is celibacy for the clergy.

People make fun of the catholic because it is the most compassionate and has the biggest charity on the face of the earth, not mention that it is the only region that recognized by the United Nation. Central Kansas

Because there are somany of us. It is of no importance as long as you know what you believe let other people carry on with their own beliefs . We are not here to be missionaries.

Because the Catholic religion is very repetitive. In church, they drone out the prayers and songs. I agree that celibacy for priests and nuns is a bad idea, (that's how you get priests having their way with young boys.) Plus, catholics services are so downtrodden. Like was said in a movie, "catholics don't celebrate their faith, they mourn it."

because i hate to say it, but most people who call themselves "christians" are hypocrites! people love to put down other religions when in reality, they have no evidence to do so. they just go by what they hear. people are misinformed about catholics and their beliefs, if they would study their beliefs, instead of blasting and making fun, maybe they would get it right, instad of making a fool of themselves.

Who cares, ignorant people make fun of everything they do not know or understand. It does not hurt anyone being laughed at. Catholics laugh at themselves.

I don't. But I know some people do. So what? That does not mean Catholics are lesser human beings.

Probably since there are a lot of Pope jokes and since they are one of the longest running faiths they have opened up more room for derision. Priests are open targets to since they do not marry and are supposed to be celibate and we all heard those jokes too.

There are so many good angles from which you can come! There's the pope, and he's just crazy. We all know that. There's also the clergy, who have just started to realize that touching little boys isn't okay, and then there's Jesus. Wonder Boy. If that isn't good material, I don't know what is.

People who make fun of the Roman Catholic are either jealous, ignorant, hypocrites, arrogant and are from families who are unlearned about Catholicism. These people are not worth paying attention to, and it is just a waste of time to debate with them, because they do not know any better that are productive.

My family is made up of Catholics who never go to Church or say the Roasary or know the name of more than two or three saints. But I won't say anything negative about them as people are people no matter what their religion or not. However, I will say this. I WAS very religious years ago. Catholicism brought about my Un-belief.

Remember what Christ said that if they hate you and ridicule you, rejoice for your reward will be great in heaven. My Master also said "If they hate you, remember that they hated me first" I LOVE YOU MY LORD AND MY GOD:-)
