Your license may be suspended. You may incurr additional fines. You may be arrested and serve jail time in some instances. Depends on local laws and what the ticket was for.

In PA the District Majistrate would send a warrant to a Constable. The constable would serve the warrant in person and the defendant would have to pay the fine in full plus constable fees, or be taken to the DJ, or temp. put in county lock-up until an on-call Majistrate was available
