I really struggled with this in this last election, I heard an ad on the radio that said to go out to vote, even if you were going to write in Mickey Mouse. I think that people should be encouraged to make educated decisions when it has to do with voting, especially when they are just voting for someone because friends and family are voting for the same person. I wish they made it more important to learn about the canidates.

No, we should only vote on issues and candidates we've studied. Democracy is only useful with an informed electorate, otherwise it's just mob mentality. I don't vote on everything and everybody, I leave blanks for any measure I haven't studied or open offices I've not paid attention to.

People have a duty to first form their conscience and then vote their conscience. They should make the effort to inform themselves and act from a certain conscience. If they are derelict in the first part and want to vote from feelings and sophistry, they are doing a disservice to themselves and all of society -- and all of society will suffer.

You should vote for the person that best reflects your personal beliefs. Even if it means a write-in vote.
