Even in the "Bible Belt" you can find truly open, tolerant, wise and very knowledgeable people, that includes Kansas, of course. I have traveled and lived abroad extensibly, and can tell you that no country in the world (to me) appeared different from the US. Obama's election may show you that we are changing and very few countries in the world would elect a president from a minority in a landslide election.

why do you act like you've met every american? there are narrowminded and ignorant people in every country, and i find that this is generally because they were brought up in an ignorant and narrowminded environment.
