  • I try to eat healthier foods, but I'm weak.
  • As you may recall, I used to be overweight and in bad health (high bp and cholesterol). After I joined Weight Watchers, I learned to control my portions and make healthier, less fattening choices. I have met my goal but still eat healthy to maintain my weight and my now normal numbers. While I do allow myself a little indulgence on the weekend and the occasional holiday (and this time a year is quite a test!), I mainly focus on healthier foods....less processed, more fresh fruits, meats (mostly poultry and fish), and vegetables.
  • I am not a fan of fast food, so that's good, but I am a hedonistic-foodie big time, so my choices support my love of wicked-good food more often than body, mind & spirit. To be fair though, I began making very specific changes to attempt some balance with this; I try to find fun and exciting "healthier" recipes and cooking styles. I also try to prepare everything from scratch if possible, which eliminates a lot of bad and unnecessary ingredients and I prepare two or three vegetarian dinners a week. I buy organic foods/ingredients whenever they are available and shop in markets that carry organic, Fair Trade and high end products/foods. I love to shop farmers markets and markets that support local growers. This is a more costly way of living, but I'm convinced that the benefits are worth it.
  • Whatever that is available, even if it is junk.As long as it keeps me alive and I can push it till my stomach!
  • We're not perfect..my favorite junk food is potato chips...Jim's too. But we mostly eat healthy food..whole grains, veggies, fruits..lean meats, veggie burgers. So the junk food percentage is not that big..additionally we read all labels and never ever eat anything with partially hydrogenated oil or hydrogenated oil, no matter how tempting it may be! :) ((hugs))
