a marriage is a marriage no matter where it takes place. bear in mind that chaplains in the military are properly qualified priests, ministers, so therefore the marriage vows you took before them, and more importantly, before the god they represent, are just as valid as the vows you would have taken in church!

Yes. The fact that you were married outside the church makes things easier (assuming that you are Catholic). All Catholics need to be married within the church or have their marriage blessed by the church in order for the church to consider the marriage valid. If you, as a Catholic, were married outside the church without having your marriage validated, then your marriage can be anulled due to lack of form. Speak with your church representative about how to go about doing this. They will need all the documentation and it might be easier to wait until you get home to start the proceedings.
