  • Hey, just think, without us they wouldn't have a thanksgiving day, so they should give thanks to Britian!
  • It matters not what your ethnic origin is..Thanksgiving is a day to pause and give thanks for what you have in life. Surely even you can understand that. Do you take time to count your blessings or are you one of those people who never bothers and focuses more on the glass half empty rather than the glass half full? We use that day to gather with family/friends, enjoy good food, good conversation, good memories and make more memories in an environment which is anti-commercial...Christmas is too commercial..it centers on things. Thanksgiving centers on giving thanks. Happy Thursday! :)
  • Thanksgiving was originally celebrated by religious refugees from England who settled what is now "New England" in the USA. The refugees were thankful for a safe crossing of the ocean, for their new land and religious freedom, and for their friendship with the native Americans who taught them how to farm and hunt the wildlife in "The New World".
  • its the same as our Christmas celebrations ha!
  • The point of thanksgiving in USA is to reflect on what we are thankful for. However, the original meaning of the celebration was to acknowledge the generosity of the American Indians when the new American settlers came to their land. And, to acknowledge the coming together of the 2 different cultures. The controversy lies in that the new settlers that came to America, killed off the American Indians, and took over their land. It was pretty disgusting. Basically, just a bloody war. here is some more about it in reference to Christopher Columbus: http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache:zldLhG84xwkJ:www.mscd.edu/~themet/TheMetropolitan/archive/01_02/Vol_24_fall01_issue7/100501_text.html+lyrics+beastie+boys+christopher+columbus+celebrated&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a
