Has any body read 'The Redemption Of Althalus' by David Eddings and what did you think to it?

I read it but had a hard time getting thru it. I actually wanted to give up. He just seems to be spitting out the same formulaic mush that made the Belgariad/Mallorean such a hit. All of his following works seem to be the same story but with the names changed to protect the fact that he can't come up with anything new. It especially irritated me that the dialogue/character interaction and the characters themselves were poorly disguised carbon copies. I don't even remember the book it was that bad. I felt the same way about his "The Elenium and The Tamuli" series. Easily recognized as knock-offs.
