In April of 2001 I came home to find our house burglarized. Stuff was everywhere. It wasn't a good feeling.

I had my house broken into and a lot of stuff thrown around and a change jar dumped in the middle of my bed. We suspect it was kids because things of obvious value were left behind and they only took silver change and some tapes and a tape player. Not a good feeling to know your stuff had been rifled through...

Someone(s) keyed or knifed my car, everywhere. They carved the word "Nigger" on the hood and trunk. I was upset as I am not a racist. I got the car painted as soon as I could; I had a $50 deductible on comprehensive so it wasn't that expensive.

I left my car unlocked outside of a friend's home once and found my turn signal stick broken in half, my rear view mirror ripped off the windshield, and my car stereo system wrecked. My reaction was,"Thank God for Super Glue!" I was able to glue the signal stick and mirror back into place. I also fixed the damaged stereo with electrical tape so I considered myself lucky for not having to involve my insurance company.

When I was a pre-teen, I was always the first one home after school. I came home one day to see our deadbolt door smashed into with our house in shambles. I was confused for the first 20 seconds then grabbed our cordless phone and called the police who told me to get out of the house just in case the robbers were still there. It took them 45 minutes to get there while I waited outside comforting my little brother who got home a half an hour later. I was angry that someone would stoop that low to steal from us, since we were very poor and didn't have much for valuables. The only room that wasn't touched was my little brother's since it was a disgusting mess (that was the only thing we could really laugh about during the 45 minute wait outside)
