Cause it is a credible source of information with citations of sources, so you can cross-reference any data you deem questionable

Because I use it all the time. It's a phenomenal resource and starting point whenever you are researching a new topic. I realize that it has gotten a lot of bad press lately, but when you actually look at some of the surveys done it pretty routinely beats out the more traditional encyclopedias in terms of accuracy despite the tampering and it's free . One should always check multiple sources for any information you get anyway. The history of shareware is that if you use the software and you like it, you donate some money to the author. Wikipedia follows the same principle. I like giving them some money on occasion.

because the amount of time and money it saves you? i know i go to wikipedia every day to check out there daily specials because they normally have something interesting. They provide you with a service, you dont have to pay, but some people think they deserve some donations (like me) for all the things theyve provided to the public!

Servers and bandwith are expensive, and Wikipedia uses alot of both. A LOT. . I find it EXTREMELY admirable that they resist the temptation of using advertising, and have no problem flipping them a dime to help out. . You know, I depend on it so much I think I should but don't have the money right now. It really got me thinking when on the website it says "free knowledge forever". That is appreciated to say the least
