  • Well, technically, when the last polls close in Hawaii at 8pm local time. The numbers could be added up if 100% of precincts across the nation were electronic. But realistically, most of the networks will have been doing "exit polling" in all the other time zones, so expect certain states to be called very quickly after the polls close for that state. The entire election won't be called until it looks like one of the candidates is a lock for 270 electoral votes. And even then, the President isn't officially elected until the electors meet and cast their votes, way after the election.
  • That's not how it happens. It won't be official until all the votes are counted, probably in about 2 weeks. Unless something goes wrong again this time...
