Yes. It is called a pre-need planning arrangement with your funeral home. You pick everything out and work out a payment plan or pay ahead of time.

Yes you can pre-pay most final expenses through a funeral home and cemetery: Coffin Vault (what it goes into) plot headstone (marker) internment opening and closing of the ground
-
Very cute, gt..I'm sure you can. Jim and I are going to have the peasant's burial..that is where they water the ground very well and let you slowly sink in! Happy Sunday! :) ((hugs))

-
actually, coffins put us on layaway peace
-
You can pay in advance but in most cases the casket is not put aside in storage awaiting your demise. When death occurs, the funeral director gets a fresh casket from his supplier.

Figuratively speaking, you certainly can put a coffin (actually, there is a technical difference between a coffin and a casket) on "layaway" by purchasing a pre-paid arrangement from a mortuary. In fact, you can purchase your plot, maker, and casket, etc., in advance, pay for them over a period of years, and even leave your instructions, choices of music, flowers, etc., for how you want your service to be done. Considering the rapidly rising costs, it makes sense to take care of these things now, and save your family a lot of potentially agonizing decisions and costly mistakes.
