You asked the $64,000 question! You also partially answered your own question by pondering why we always ponder. In other words, what separates us from other creatures is our ability to create concepts like barbecues, books, and words for the acts of fishing and making love. Once you have the ability to form concepts, you have the ability to roam around inside your head about what's going on now, what happened in the past and what might possibly lay in store for us tomorrow. With this ability also comes the ability to make judgements about these concepts and actions. Is barbecue good to do or is it evil because it hurts animals? Are books OK? Or do they cause us to further ponder things like judgements and the actions of other humans? Etc. Etc. That's the 25-cent answer, but that should be enough, I don't want to ponder anymore. I'm satisfied with having the holidays being over and I just want to munch on some more holiday treats and maybe read a light-hearted book. Peace, swabby
