Partly due to sloppy breeding by Puppy Mills and irresponsible Back Yard Breeders over the past 30 years (yup...I said 30 years...think back to "Lady and the Tramp.." that's when crap breeding of Cockers took off in the USA) this lovely little breed has suffered increasing eye problems over all. (they have also suffered increased BEHAVIORAL and Temperament challenges too! argggg) While your dog COULD develop an eye infection from some OTHER influence, it should not have further challenges with this SPECIFIC issue, since the offending lid has been REMOVED. I would suggest you make a practice of wiping the eyes DAILY with clean (purified) plain water and a soft clean cloth, just to keep them clean of normal eye goop, dust and other debris that might come into contact with those beautiful long eyelashes...
