I don't see why any one should get into trouble. The girl is not so young as to be gullible. The man is not old enough to think up ways to take advantage of the girl's young age. No problems about trouble cropping up. Infact the older man will know how to put up with the teenager's limited exposure to the world of the grown ups.

That would all depend upon the laws of the country she lives in. In New Zealand the age of consent is 16, so neither would get in trouble. That doesn't mean I think it is a wise choice.

In most places in the world 17 is past the legal age of consent. However there are lots of ways to "get into trouble" that don't involve the age of consent.

I think there's more to your question. It's been my experience that a highschool aged girl dating a man 10 or so years older than her is a bad idea for both. Be careful. The fact that you are worried about getting into trouble is a red flag all by itself. Ask your self if her parents, teachers, friends and so on would see a problem. Also would his boss, cowokers, parents and so on see a problem? That might help put this into perspective for you.

Not in Florida, no. The age of consent there is 18. Most states have a closeness-in-age exception. In Florida, a 17 year old can have sex with at most a 24 year old. With a 26 year old man it would be a second degree felony. Someone, like your parents, would have to rat you out to the local prosecutor, who would then have to decide on whether to press charges. You can date anyone of any age, but you can't have sex with him unless he is 24 or younger. Wait until your birthday, or else be very careful. By the way, there is no such thing as "statutory rape". That is just a made up term. There can never be rape where there is consent. The felony here would be "unlawful sexual activity".

Honestly from personal experience. I am a 17 year old girl hiding the fact that I date a 27 year old man and the father of my child. Ill be 18 in april and were not allowed to date until then, BUT like i said hes the father of my child as well as my fiance. We had to go to court for the matter. Because I had sexual intercourse with him he almost got prison time for statuatory rape. I on the other hand did not want him to be chared.. but my parents DID. We had to go to court for over a year, Just now got over with and had tonssss of brutal gossip go around about the two of us. I can honestly say that Im in love with this man because ive stuck with him through thick and thin. But i have no idea nor do you know if you are in love. Its also based on maturity level between the two. Ive raised myself and have always acted older than I am. He is a very mature guy and I am able to keep up with that. You have to think about whether you are mature and ready for that type of MATURE relationship or not.
