Most women do it and see cooking as a chore. Men do it for the love of it.

I don't think in this day and age women have any more or less cooking experience than men. I cook way better and have more experience than my gf and more than my ex-wife had. As far as popularity goes I think you see as many female chefs as male, it just seems that tv cooking shows like to portray men as chefs and women as cooks.

Women cook for the family and men cook for the hotel industry. One does it for the love of feeding the children and husbands etc and the other does it for the general public.Their motivations are different. Both do it for the love, woman for the family and the male chef for money and fame..I cook at home!

Women do other chores besides cooking, chefs just cook

the way women are looked up to when they are being a police or a race car drivers but to be more close to your answer, its that it's really different to have a male lead, it makes it outstanding my dad used to say that men are supposed to be leaders, its not ideal for a woman to lead a country most women are soft for decisions while men was build for fighting and tough but cooking is different so whatever

that's a little insulting to women. not all women cook.

Well for a starters the environment in which a chef works is not always something a female chef can feel comfortable, they tell rude jokes and talk guy stuff about women, which alot of women find offensive. It is a demanding & high pressure job, where at home your kids/s.o won't give you a 10min lecture on how stupid or pathetic your cooking is.

When it comes to chefs on TV, female ones tend to be more "motherly", wand male chefs tend to be aggressive (a trait that isn't as appealing in a woman).
-
I don't know that they are. Do you have any research or references to back up your statement that male chefs are more popular than female chefs?
-
I don't think that's necessarily true. If it is true, I think it's changing. (But I could be wrong -- everybody's experience is subjective.) My partner and I eat out quite a bit and, of our four favorite restaurants, two of the owners/head chefs are women and two are men. And in terms of media popularity, I think women are running a bit ahead these days. And all the guys on the Food Network know that they owe their careers to Julia Child. :-)
