You're reading Giflriend just moved out of old bf's condo that they leased. It was a 12 mos lease and they were joint. He started listing ads for a new tenant after she left, but she just got a bill for the full break, without his name. Can he drop without telling her?

They do have his new address as he was working with the management company to sublet and then low and behold the letter in the mail with just her name. I'd assume there would have to be some kind of signing off of the lease or proof that she can even afford the payments by herself which she cannot. It doesn't seem that its legal to drop off of a lease without all parties consenting or some form of re-approval.

I don't know what state you're in.
Who knows what kind of deal or arrangements were agreed to or made. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding.
I wouldn't even venture a guess about the underlying circumstances.
She should talk with the management company.
If it seems as though there is an impasse, she should talk it over with a real estate broker in your area.
