It's about time! It should be legal everywhere.

Prostitution is legal here in Belgium. Workers get tested by the government once a month and are taxed like everyone else. It's still a "service" most people don't use, but at least the ones that do are safe and the workers are definitely safe compared to their counterparts in countries where prostitution is still illegal. I think if legalizing prostitution in San Francisco is done correctly, it's a good thing.

It is a victimless crime....

It depends on how it's done. The way it stands now (that it would still be illegal, but no one would be prosecuted or arrested for it) is not good. Like Mistje mentioned, if done correctly, we can cut down on a lot of people inflicted with disease and the like. I do have a concern, however, in terms of trafficking. It's still around, unfortunately, and I think we need to ensure that those who are prostituting are doing so at their own free will. The flip side? They are hoping to cut down on spending by not prosecuting, and I think it will cost equally as much to ensure all parties are willing participants.

Give it to 'em.

Although I personally consider prostitution to be disgusting and immoral, I think it should be legalized. The fact that it is illegal has certainly not stopped it from happening. If it is legalized, it can be regulated and taxed. Standards can be imposed to help protect the people who chose to sell themselves as well as their customers and, most importantly in my mind, the husbands/wives/partners of those who make use of prostitutes without the other person's knowledge. In the immortal words of George Carlin, "Selling is legal. F*cking is legal. Why isn't selling f*cking legal?"

Should be legal everywhere around the globe. My 2 cents.

I doubt it will pass. But if it does it means more money for San Fran. However they'll lose family tourism and that's a lot of dough.
