Because many of them think it is not gender appropriate for them to learn how. Not all men are like that, I cook very well, for instance.

well, i think it's because for so long people believed that was a women's job. i think it's alot better nowadays, but some men still haven't learned to cook because their mothers and then wives always did it for them.

They may have someone else cooking for them, whose cooking they like, so they don't have any reason to learn. Would you?

My mother always kicked me out of the kitchen, and it was considered an "extra" skill for a guy to have. I was focused enough on just learning everything else I needed to know to keep my parents happy. With microwave meals getting better, I have no reason to devote time and energy to something that is taken care of.

I would guess they were never in the kitchen watching their mother or grandmother's cook. They were most likely involved in outdoor activities.

I am a man with two sons and we can all cook well, my wife taught us. In fact most of the men I know can cook. According to my wife, who is an excellent cook, anybody who can read can cook.

Because their wives and mothers before them wait on them hand and foot and make it easy for them not to have to cook!

I am the oldest of 9 kids & as my Mother had an incurable disease, I & my brother did all the "Housework & Cooking". I have probably made more entrees, salads, deserts & baked goods then U know to exist after 50 years of cooking!!! My wife Tam is no "Novice" in the Kitchen & I'm still teaching her & she will be the first to admit it. So, lets not get "Stereotypical" here! LOL LOL John

Simply because when chores are distributed at home the kitchen ones are generally not allotted to them so as kids they don't learn. If its a boys only family and they are expected to help in the kitchen they learn.

The stereotype is that women cook, so a lot of men expect it. My boyfriend can cook SO much better than me, thankfully he's not all about that stereotype. :)
