VB.NET is the product of microsoft corporation whose parent language was VB6.This works mostly on windows platform.For linux platform ,there is 3rd party interface called mono.SAme purpose can be accomplished by VB.NET like java.Microsoft offers Visual studio as the graphical interface for the coding of VB.NET.Microsoft also gives freedom to accomplish programs , by selecting various languages like ASP.NET,C#.NET from .NET package. Obviously there is huge difference in the coding syntaxes of both java and VB.NET
