I am one of the one "struggling", been laid off for the past year...yet I am not complaining about people going on game shows or playing the lottery, it gives me hope that I might hit it big too. just because there is a recession, doesn't mean we should stop dreaming.
-
It's hope. and the cost to the masses is negligible, Id the prizes were spread around, none would be much rcher

That possibility is probably what gives people some sanity, especially since it costs very little to participate in the dream. I'm more concerned about a very screwed up system where CEOs are making millions of dollars in bonuses while employees are losing their jobs, sports figures are making exorbitant salaries while a family of four can't even afford to go to a game, and who knows how much of our tax dollars are being wasted each day due to mismanagement. That's what we should be looking at more closely. That's what's not right.

I Live within my means.. every country is in recession not only America..and americans. The third world countries do not even have clean water, food or shelter..they still survive. The difference is they live day to day. They do not have a ball to play, in Africa the starving kids play with skulls to past their time- who knows those skulls could be very well be their own parents. Life is unfair....but justice will come soon.

Not everyone was poor during the Great Depression. Many people became rich during that time. Not everyone has to watch what they buy. :)
-
Of course, it's the modern circus of bread and circuses.
-
Well, most of that goes right back to the government in taxes. I think the prize tax is, like, 50%....that's what my mom told me a while ago.
-
It does not matter if we are in a recession as long as we enjoy the fruits of being in a democratic country.
-
Yes I think that's fair, because most likely the people who are trying to make ends meet bought the lottery ticket, and probably someone who is trying to make ends meet won the lottery, and when we die our bodies become grass, and the antelope eat the grass, and so we are all connected in the Great Circle of Life :)

This is my THIRD recession. It is temporary and I have learned from past recessions to live within my means. Of course, I would LOVE to win free money from a game show, but it won't happen, I have to go to work each day. But, I do find it ENTERTAINING watching someone else walk away with 50K for answering some question right! A word of advice: Get use to this recession, and learn the lessons it will teach you. It won't be the last ONE you have to live through during your lifetime.
-
How, or rather, where do you think that money is coming from in the first place? Well, in case you don't know, I'll tell ya, it's from the suckers that play the game in the first place!
-
Yes, because watching game shows brightens up many people's lives and I always like to see a battler win the big prize.
-
Why not it's open to any to try. My boy made enough money to pay for college.

Life is never fair. We are all individuals and have different lives, make different choices, and have different fates and fortunes. There's nothing wrong about winning money so long as it is honest and legitmate.
