  • As far as i know your property is your own to do with what you like as long as you do not live in a deed restricted community, then you have to follow guidelines.
  • You need to read the CC & R's of your subdivision. These are given to you in the paperwork when you purchase. If you have lost them contact the title company/attorney who closed your escrow and request them. Many neighborhoods do have rules about ponds. The rules used to only be about size and location and barriers to keep children from drowning. Now there are also mosquito control mandates that have to be followed. Ain't it grand what the gov does with our tax money?
  • It depends on the bylaws of your community, but usually one can not put it in the front yard without barriers to protect neighborhood children.
  • Check with City Hall and see if you need a permit to do it. I think it depends on the size and where you put it, you might want to check for pipelines and gas lines on your property before you start.
