  • Nope. The only time I have ever been late to work was when I was in a car accident.
  • Never. Where I worked if you were more than 2 hours late, a security person was dispatched to your home to check on you and they called all of your emergency contacts to see if they knew where you were. Not good. If you didn't have a good reason for not calling in, you were toast.
  • yeah i did when i was part time. didnt go in cos i was studying for an exam. they just gave me a written warning for it.
  • I have more respect for myself and my employer to ever be so ignorant as to "no call/no show". That's just a low class thing to do. With exception of a major medical emergency or death of course.
  • I was Extremely mad at my Boss. I did not care if I would get fired that time.
  • 1. Yes 2. None 3. Earthquake (Loma Prieta, 1989) There was no phone service so I couldn't call in. They were very understanding, to say the least.
  • When I was younger and had fewer bills and responsibilities I had a crappy job and one day just decided that I wasn't going back anymore. Now days it hurts too much to not be able to have that job as a good reference and mess up a resume you have been developing for 15 years, so I do my obligatory 2 weeks and such...but every once in awhile I think everyone wakes up and says, srew work today...of course now I call in at elast.
  • I didn't show up for a week once. By the end of the weekend I decided I'd take another week off just to be safe and let things cool down over there and then eventually just forgot about the whole "job" thing and moved on. It really was for the best.
  • Just once by sheer accident. I was working at McDonalds when I was 18 and my parents asked me to look at the schedule to see if I was working on July 4th. I looked and I wasn't scheduled for that day. So I spent a nice July 4th with my parents at Lake George. The next day I found out I had been a "no show" as someone had pencilled in my name on the 4th after I had looked at the schedule. I called my boss to apologize and it never happened again. I didn't get in trouble.
  • Funny I did that one day on a previous job - didnt call in - didnt show up - and no one ever questioned me!!! That was so cool! Reason was I wasnt happy there and just didnt feel like going to work that day.
  • Absolutely not! The only time I ever came close, was when I ran out of gas and was stuck on the side of the road. I didn't have a cell phone. I waited for a while and a school bus drove up. One of the kids let me use their cell and I called my husband, who called work and my daughter to come and help me. There is no excuse for a no call/no show.
  • I pretty much get unlimited sick time. I need a Dr note if I take more than two days at a time. So I call in sick whenevern Im just plain "sick of work"
