They're not my cup of tea but I know that a lot of people enjoy them. If you take a look at the home page lately, you'll see that people find ways to come up with some pretty inane questions in the traditional format too;)

They are easily ignored. I think this site started off with the serious aim of developing a useful knowledge database, but the reality is that it has to make money through advertising and the more questions there are, the more ads get shown, therefore the more money the site makes. I agree with you that they are generally just a way of point farming but, as I said, I tend to ignore them, along with questions that I can't easily understand because they are written in text language.

People find all kinds of ways to farm points here. The fill in the blank questions are mildly annoying, but I just don't answer them and tune them out.

I am happy they found something to do. I never worry about what others do as long as it does not effect me. From asking questions I find annoying to point farming does not bother me a bit. I think we all have our reasons for being here. Mine is to help others if I can. I found it is much better for me not to worry what others do and concentrate more on the purpose I am on here and I always walk away with a smile on my face.

If you don't like 'em, down rate 'em as not being useful questions, it is that simple. I on the other hand find that people using answerbag just to ask questions loaded with rants equally annoying and useless.
