  • You could always do one of those tours and talk at schools...
  • If what you're describing right now doesn't stop idiots like me from stopping smoking, I'm not sure what will. Not that I don't worry about it, but being a smoker for fifty years, I'm sure you know where I'm coming from. Maybe I should visit recovering cancer patients, or something like that, maybe it would change my mind, though I am rather aware of the effects. :/ Good luck on your crusade though, I certainly hope it helps for some smokers.
  • punch a punching bag for a while till u get the thought out of your mind.
  • It is up to them, as it was up to you. Everybody knows by now that smoking can cause lung cancer; you must have been aware of this yourself. I smoked for about 40 years, and have now got COPD as a result, although I gave up about 12 years ago. I was strongly addicted, and I was not able to give up until they invented nicotine nasal sprays. Some people cannot give up; some think that it is worth the risk. I don't think those of us who have suffered as a result can expect to influence those who have not. Best of luck to you, anyway. I hope that things improve for you, and wish you all the best for the future.
  • Firstly let me say I am sorry to hear you had to go through such a painful ordeal. But I am a smoker, I know the risks I know the effects and I have seen it first hand, I used to be a surgery tech..but I still smoke. I can understand it might be hard for you to see people smoke but I don''t think any pictures or testimonies are really gonna convince me to quit something..I would only quit if I wanted to quit and I am ready to quit..that might be before a medical problem or because of one, I dunno. But people are people and most of them do things like overeat, smoke, drink too much, etc that are bad for them and they continue to do it until it kills them regardless of what people warn them of.
  • If they did not listen to the the prophets, they will not listen to you
  • I will tell you that it is the way with cigarettes, drugs, teen pregnancy.. everything. People have the attitude "it will NOT happen to me" and then it does and they are like I don't understand.. it wasn't supposed to happen. You can't make people listen. you could let them see u struggle everyday for every breath and some would still say "won't happen to me".. all you can do is just try but realize that they have to ultimately decide. I speak from experience as a person who her entire life has said "it won't happen to me".. guess what. I got pregnant, I was an addict, I also smoked. GL in your attempts
  • MMoon, I'm also an ex-smoker. I hope to stay that way. Thank you for your question and example. I truly hope you get to feeling better soon.
  • You're a smart woman. You had the knowledge of the potential of smoking. It didn't dissuade you. So others will not be dissuaded..they will make excuses, ignore evidence, turn away from those who would try to help them. We cannot be helped if we don't acknowledge that there is a problem. I would say save your strength, your energy and your hope and focus on you..thinking positive, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel..never giving up hope that the ulimate goal you have of good health will be achieved. That is my opinion. Happy Monday! Mahalo! :)
