there might be an allele for an inclination to such sexual orientation, but I think the decisive majority of the causes lie in how that persons's life and personality unfolds... as I see it, genes are inclinations and limits, but your DNA doesn't FORCE you into a mindset. a person may have a tendency for violence, but it's not like his genes are "making him"... they just make him more inclined to it... so basically, i think genes can give you a nudge, but it takes MUCH more than that to change your preferences

I think it partly is nature, but some is choice. Not a bad choice mind you, just a choice. Like my fiancees mum, she was married for 15 years and had a NASTY divorce. And i think she dates women now because of the divorce...But perhaps she was attracted to women a little before... Im very confused on the subject. Either way, it does not bother me :]

I think that during pregnancy there are hormonal ïmbalances/changes that give a child a homosexual tendency. I know a lot of homosexual men and they all say that they were born that way.

I think this is a good question, but I'm sure I'll offend someone somewhere by answering it. Here goes anyway. I believe that we are all bi-sexual to some degree. Most of us lean heavily one way or the other -- the majority towards the opposite sex. I think that homosexuality/lesbianism is a choice to that degree, but that there is a predisposition to choose one or the other. I think that love is a beautiful thing where ever it is found and I certainly would never condemn someone who found it with the same sex. On the other hand, I think promiscuity is wrong whether it's homo- or hetero- sexual. I think we should support committed couples of all types by providing civil unions for legal protection.

If I told you that you had to be attracted to the same sex, you could force yourself to have a same sex relationship, but that wouldn't change who you're attracted to. That's pure genetics. Every homosexual I know(11 to be exact) all say it's genetic. Who am I to say they're wrong?
