  • That's the way I see it, too. They voluntarily make a choice to join the military, but parents -- some -- do 'send' their kids to college. Big difference there. Good point, Anti-Semantic!
  • I agree with you, but it is not always a choice.. like when there are drafts.
  • maybe people say they sent their child off to serve the country to hide their own lack of ambition to so something for the country? its like they try to get some of the credit that should be going to the child. the parents just want to look or feel like they are doing something so they can say to people "what did you do for the country? nothing? well *I* sent MY child to serve for OUR country!" but really they didnt lift a fucking finger for anyone but themselves.
