Check the websites of the cell providers in your areas. I have T-mobile and they show you by zip code the type of coverage that is available.

Check which service provider's signals are the strongest in this particular suburb. Buy a new sim card from them. Buy a duel sim card phone and put your present sim card and the new one you buy for suburban use into the phone. That should solve the problem I suppose. Or that is what I am doing and it has solved more than one problem for me.

Your provider simply doesn't have a solid signal (or something it can roam to) there. Check your provider's website and look at the sites of several competitors. Many have interactive signal finders that can predict how many bars you will get (under ideal conditions) sometimes even down to the level of individual street addresses. Just realize that those aren't 100% reliable, they show you their own signal, not whether others are available. At my aunt's house *nobody* no matter which carrier they use can get a signal. There simply aren't any towers close. At her address the website says they offer (unspecified) coverage through roaming partners, but they have no way of knowing whether any other companies have towers there or not. My own experience with my phones and that of my friends is that Verizon has the best coverage in terms of getting a signal. That doesn't mean they're necessarily the best carrier for you - different carriers have different promotions and features which may be a better fit. Of course, it's moot if the phone doesn't work in the places you happen to be.
