Why do you think there is no international sign language? If it was taught in all schools around the world just think how easy this would make communication!

    I think it's also because many countries have different alphabets / scripts, which could make it harder to come up with a universal sign language.

    I guess it is because each nation wants to keep its own culture and language. Fear of loosing identity. If you look at artificial languages Esperanto, Ido or Volapuk, you'll see that they have never established a widespread use because of this, I think.

    However, international sign language is a great idea.
