Before the stock market crash of 1929 General Motors had a market value of $4 Billion. Yesterday it was less than that. Yet the "poorest" three people on the Forbes 400 richest Americans list are worth more that that. What does it mean?

the rich get richer (and some) and the poor stay poor (with taxation) and millions of people die in the world because they cant afford to eat

It means the system is based on greed and equality. It also means unfortunately that the rest of us will pay for that greed. However in a time to come, we will all look back and view the government and those responsible for this with contempt, whilst looking out over the smouldering ruins of the world economy. The coming consequences of this greed will make the Great Depression look like a bad night of poker.

One thing it means is that too much wealth is being gained by manipulation of the system rather than genuine economic contribution.
