14 years ago I was charged with Agg Asst w/Deadly weapon. I now work in security. I applied for my commission License to carry a firearm. Does this disqualify me under penal code Section 12.44B The charges were reduced to a Misdemeanor. where do i stand

I just talked to a gun dealer about this. State regulations are different from federal ones. You may get a license to carry (state back ground check) but won't be able to buy a gun(federal back ground check.) Most likely if you went to buy a gun they would make you wait the mandatory waiting period for your state. A misdemeanor should not stop you from getting a license.
