  • I would suppose up to this point there has been no need for him to 'spearhead' reform or legislation. It is not a lack of leadership - it may be a lack of interest, or it may be that he is a team player who values the cooperative method of congress over being a leader before elected to be a leader. To this point Obama has been a representative of a small slice of America - it is reasonable to assume that the people he represented did not show or want him to reform legislation. He's been a senator for around 12 years - apparently the people he represents are satisfied with his work to date. The duties of a senator are not the same as the duties of a president. Just because as a senator he has not decided to throw himself into a 'cause' does not mean as President he will do the same.
  • I think he'll do fine, I have confidence in his intelligence, cool head, and common sense. We just spent 8 years with an incompetent, mono-syllabic, Texas frat boy, at this point I'm looking for progress, not perfection. In 4 years, if I'm wrong, I'll come on A/B and admit it.
  • If what you say is accurate, it only shows that spearheading reform legislation is not the only way to show leadership. I think Obama has shown plenty of leadership prior to getting into the Senate. I know that I will not change minds but in January when he is sworn in as President he will show the non believers how he leads.
  • I don't quite understand... is it important that you MUST spearhead any form of legislation to be considered a leader? In fact a book I read (written by Madison? I believe...it was a while ago) said that the best of our followers will become the best of the leaders. Is there a source which told you otherwise? :)
  • No it's not a lack in leadership, and I'm not willing to argue with you either.
  • Did BlackHope literally say "non-believers". Who does this guy think Barack Obama is? Jesus Christ? And yes sir, this is very scary. These same people who say that Obama doesn't need to spearhead any reform legislation to be a leader claim Sarah Palin has no experience so she shouldn't be vice-president. Oh...but she's a Republican and sometimes she says something and she accidentally stumbles over a word...so she must be an idiot. Democrats. Can't live with them, can't live without them.
  • Part time senator's do not have time for this.
