I'm not really sure why she's telling you not to... you'd be helping animals, it's decent pay, teaches you to be responsible... I don't see anything bad about it. Unless you're a very sensitive person and she's not sure how you'd handle seeing someone's pet die.

take the job at the vet and good for you for wanting to challenge yourself with a new job. peace.

I think you should do what you want to do. I read that your current job is flexible when it comes to school, would the vets be the same? If you're intending to carry on at school it's going to be important that your classes and work don't clash. Either way, this is your life, not your mother's. You're an adult. Make a decision based on what YOU want and what YOU think is best for YOU.

How long have you had your present job? We are facing a lot of job loss in the present and near future. Can the vet assure you he will not lay you off if harder times come? How long have you had the flower job? Which one pays the most? Will they give you a contract to keep you on the job for X amt of time? Are you a high school graduate or still in school? At the age of 18 you are an adult. What job you work is your legal decision. If your mom is still supporting you maybe you should do as she wants until you can be on your own.
