  • I've found Mormons to be generally tolerant of other religions -- that doesn't mean they agree, and they do proselytize somewhat, but I haven't seen them go out of their way to attack other faiths. I would imagine this applies to the Baha'i as well. Of course, there are bound to be some bad apples in the barrel, just like in any group.
  • Mormons for the most part have nothing agains any other religion. The saying most heard from us is "Bring all the knowledge and faith that you have, and lets see if we can add to it." I haven't heard anything about the Baha'i faith, but I'm sure the same attitude is shown towards it despite your research on Joseph Smith. Hope this helps.
  • Joseph Smith was asked: What do you believe? He wrote 13 Articles of Faith to answer that, which are now included in the Pearl of Great Price as part of our Scriptures. Article 11 answers this question: 11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  • The Baha`i use a prophecy by Joseph Smith to validate their religion. In 1843, Joseph prayed to know when Jesus would return. God responded, saying if Joseph lived to be 85, he would "see the face of the Son of Man" (D&C 130:14-17). Had he not been murdered, Joseph would have turned 85 in December 1890. Baha'u'llah announced he was the Promised One of all religions in early 1891. The few Mormons who know about the Baha`i faith reject this notion because the clause of the prophecy wasn't met. IF Joseph had lived to 85 THEN he would have seen the face of Jesus. And Joseph himself didn't know if seeing the face of the Son of Man meant it would be Jesus' Second Coming, a personal visitation, or something else entirely. Mormons view the Baha`i faith like just about any other faith.
