I respect them. They have a very difficult and stressful job. And I know they have more patience than I do dealing with difficult people. There are a lot of people alive today for no other reason than it is illegal to kill them. The police prevent anarchy.

In general I do respect police officers. Although there are countless policemen who abuse there authority all the time. Using there influence to cheat the system as if they are above the law. There are also some policemen who are truly public servants. Working to protect us and keep us safe. So some policemen should be respected and some don't deserve respect.

not in northern ireland but then i suppose it depends on how one has become involved with them, if you have never committed a crime and you need assistance i suppose you would respect them.... which i do. but over here they dont fight crime etc they hide at the roadside and pull ya in to fine ya for speeding. While the paramilitaries are are threating people at gun point to leave their homes so they can sell drugs without the good people of the area ringing the police

Yes by me.I think they do an impossible job with often inadequate resources. However I do think that people in all emergency services (police, fire crews, medical staff) get far less respect now than they used to. Furthermore, their abilities are reduce because of the threat of legal ramification. This can impede their ability to perform their jobs correctly and lead to further disrespect from the public. I think prank calls should be much more harshly prosecuted as well.

I would hope so. But many times they are not, unfortunately.

police officers should be respected highly, they are the ones out there all the time and are there when we need them the most. And they know all the great places to eat!
