Just put it over the fire for about 8 seconds and don't get it on fire. That's how I alway do it and it's perfect.

Outdoors on a camping trip is best. You take the marshmallow or more than one and pierce with a stick taken from a tree. Hold the marshmallow(s) well above the campfire and watch carefully. The outside will form a "skin" that is a tan or butterscotch color. Rotate the stick so the tan happens all over the marshmallow(s). When finished serve promptly sandwiched between two halves of a Hershey's chocolate bar which in turn is sandwiched between two halves of a graham cracker. (a s'more) swabby
