If you just recently started a job, is it too late to file for unemployment?

    in most states you have to file during the work week you were fired or laid off, so, if you lose your job on Monday, you have till Friday, but if you already have another job why even go through the hassle??

    im not sure i understand.... u cant collect if ur employed but do u mean if they fire u? In that case u still cant u need to work somewhere for at least 8 weeks and then be let go

    If you just started a job, you are employed.
    Unemployement compensation is for people who do not have a job.
    You cannot collect it unless you do not have a job.

    The prefix "un" means "not." Thus, "unemployed" means "not employed."

    If you recently started a job, that would mean you are employed, which is the opposite of "not employed."
