  • The legislative branch makes the laws, the judicial branch interprets them, and the executive branch enforces them, with the executive branch including, at least in my mind, mayors, as well as governors, and of course, the president.

      Unfortunately, at least at the federal level, you have a legislature that can't get anything done because of political posturing, a President that chooses to NOT enforce laws he doesn't agree with and a string of courts who try to legislate from the bench. The system works but only if each branch does what it's supposed to do.
