I like the simpleness of how to get around in the old AB. The new pages are not very clear on how to get where you want to go.

I find it very hard to find out if i got new answers or my comments were rated , before it was easy to see this (as the small ball would have been shining ) when u had a new comment / rate , but now it's very hard and confusing ....

Well. My complaint with the old AB was in the speed of the website. This one seems faster today...I hope it keeps up this way. FASTER.

Everything I liked about the "old" AB format is GONE! Nothing really motivates me to WANT to answer questions any more. That feeling of camaraderie just doesn't exist any more! You guys on the AB STAFF dropped the ball SERIOUSLY on this one! Sorry!

- I agree. You don't just pop-in and start answering questions anymore - it's a chore, trying to navigate around the site. And I don't think you can even edit answers now, so you have to be really really careful about what you type; it's like being in a courtroom.

I'm getting around the site relatively easily, now. And making notes about problems and suggestions to help make THIS AB more user-friendly. As much as we might bitch-and-moan, AB will probably NOT go back to the old version. Let's make THIS one as much ours as we can, and get some of those who left to come back and help - CONSTRUCTIVELY.

- I don't think you needed to use the word 'probably' in relation to AB not going back to the old version. Everybody will get used to this version and the staff will sort out the problems. In two weeks even the die-hard haters of the new layout will have come to terms with it.
  
  I think those who leave just because of this change and don't come back can't have much in the way of determination and just want an easy ride and to chat with their friends, rather than to make any really worthwhile contribution.

- It's not just about determination, Brian. Market Research consistently shows - when it comes to the internet, user-friendliness trumps all; the flashiest layouts, animations, coolest features and so forth, are bunk if ease-of-use diminishes. And so far, I think that is what has happened.
  
  That's how I feel, and I have usually been one to ask and answer serious questions, rather than one who uses this as a chat site.

I just hope they don't bring back the little keyword popups. I hated them. I love the emailing option, I'd asked for that on several occasions, so yeah, I'm happy. Good Job Bag, and don't worry, they'll get used to it. You should make a video tutor for the none computer savvy. And let it sit to the right for a few months.

this is just wrong im sorry i joined this site because the setup and layout appealed to me. then i found a very caring community, but when the site was change both became lost to me. that is why as of now i do not fully participate in the asking and answering of questions. i only check in every once in a while to see if the AB gods have come to their senses and brought the AB that i fell in love with back

- it just really irks me that they did nothing to improve rather they made it more facebookish and appealing to the youngers, but what is the point of an AB without the community that once was

- Just off the top of my head: The avatars are too small, the answers are buggy (the words often overlap with the username), the feedback section is very cluttered and no longer says which feedback is "new" and which is "already seen", there is much less color contrast - almost everything is one of two shades of dark blue, also much less visual contrast - rather than lines and boxes separating bunches of text, it's just empty spaces which makes it hard to skim through long pages, and most importantly - you can't even edit your answers or comments after you post them...

Despite my better intentions, I think I've succeeded in finding myself a home-base for a Q&A site. Through all the thick points and when the "staff" weren't listening earlier this week, I guess I just wasn't listening to my "heart". Their listening all right. It might take them longer to work out the kincks, but we'll be back up and running like never before, well before everyone knows it. With this new AB interface, and another notification system in the works, it'll be just like the old AB, well before you can snap your fingers.

I'm not sure. It doesn't say anymore how many answers I got to each question, which I don't like. And how do I see older questions? The home page only shows the 10 or so most recent.

I far prefer the new interface over the old one, which was sadly outdated. I agree that the sudden change to a completely different layout, with many new features has introduced a lot of problems. However, the staff seem to be acting remarkably quickly to feedback about the problems and I'm confident all will be well.

I absolutely hate the advert links beneath each question and the lack of space for comments!
The whole attraction of AB for me in the past, was it's simplicity, the current format is fiddly, confusing and disorganised!

I came to AB to have fun, so it's possible that I didn't notice the "announcement" that the times they would be a'changin. Part of me wants to adjust, but the larger part of me is still confused and even more annoyed. Polls and debates are fine, but the new look is incredibly clinical and boring and the new format is too time consuming. I liked being able to just click on my profile and activity, seeing comments and responding to them, etc. This time change was NOT a good thing.
