Help answer this question below.
This question is prompted by the death threats Bart Stupak a pro-life dem has received since voting for HCR. There is no and was no money for abortion in the bill.
Stupak, the Michigan Democrat whose last-minute compromise on abortion guaranteed passage of the bill Sunday, said callers have left messages for him saying, “You’re dead; we know where you live; we’ll get you.”

You're reading How do pro-lifers justify killing functioning human beings but call it murder to abort or let someone commit suicide?

I only heard a few of the messages, but I think they were left by pro-lifers because the people sound very intolerant. They are wishing for harm to him and his family, and they are calling him a "baby killer"...

Intollernce does not belong to the pro-life crowd.

Of course it does. The “pro-life crowd” are a bunch of fundamentalists; which, by definition means they are intolerant...
by Big B on March 26th, 2010
Wow, guess you use stereotypes a lot... Using your logic that makes you a racist.
by That Guy Again on March 26th, 2010
So are you saying that pro-lifers are not fundamentalists? Or, are you saying that a fundamentalist is not intolerant???

I'm saying that someone's position on any one issue is not an accurate indication of their religious beliefs, position on other political issues, their party affiliation and certainly not their level of 'tolerance'.
Frankly, it annoys me to no end when I see questions, answers and comments on here that aren’t designed to foster communication and thought… but however manage as this question and your comment do, to suggest that all who have a belief can be pigeon holed into a class; general way or level of thought.
Every time someone posts a question, answer or comment here that portrays all who choose the conservative option on any issue as toothless uneducated redneck bible thumpers or conversely their opponents are all ‘Frisco hippie or New York Liberal elitist new world order agnostic socialists... Such comments, are like yours. Assuming that all of the position of pro-life are ‘intolerant fundamentalists’ is only divisive and indicative of some underlying racism as you try to assign a disparaging term to those who disagree with you.
I for one, in spite of being very liberal in my youth have become more libertarian in my advancing age. I believe in a minimalist federal government and with every passing day, I am becoming more and more of a federalist and it’s obvious that congress has ignored not only the 10th but also the 9th amendment.
I am very much anti-abortion, yet I do not want laws that forbid it since time has made it painfully obvious over and over that it's not possible to legislate either common sense or morality.
In any event the last thing I want is my tax dollars being spent to pay for abortions. I also don't want my tax dollars being used to pay for Nancy Pelosi’s face lifts or any other elective surgery.
I also consider it ironic that for his entire career this politician has been getting hate mail and death threats because of his being anti-abortion. Additionally, I’m amazed that an experienced congressman didn’t know that the ‘executive’ order that he abandoned his position for, is about as meaningful as a satchel full of confederate money as it carries no weight of law and can be ignored in light of the signed bill.
