    I am a renter and therefore personally have little interest in such things.
    Nonetheless, what you are talking about sounds like something the management company was rolling out in some apartments. It's a sheet-thin floor coating, apparently real wood made to look like hardwood. They were charging an extra $20 a month for the enhancement. As part of selling it they put it down in the common laundry room. Due to occasional spills, backups, and line leaks, all of them minor, the boards buckled, blistered, and peeled right up. They pulled the flooring out of that laundry room real fast.
