What would you say is the % of mean/insulting people on here to nice people? Another similar site I was on was almost all mean people.

I'm doing some straight up venting and don't forget it's quality and not quantity.
It's gotten to the point that I'm forced to ask questions because I am having a hard time finding a good one that I want to answer.

I think there's tons of unanswered questions on the site. You could always do a bit of research and help someone.
I'm not quite sure what kind of questions you like answering. I'd say the question you just posted falls into the social/opinion category where's there's no wrong answer. Lately I think the site has become flooded with these questions.
So what type of questions do you like to answer? Maybe I could provide you with some.

Why should I do "research to help someone", when I didn't know how to spell a word and asked the teacher she told me to look it up. People seem to forget that this site is a good and fun idea but it was developed, in the end, to make someone money, have fun with it.

Many of the users get pleasure of researching and helping others. That IS their fun. Also some AB users just don't have the experience to find info on the internet. But yeah, just do what you like. I usually only answer questions I know the answer to. I don't do much research anymore.
