there is about 10 different parts of the ira. there are people who just want to blow stuff up but thats not the ira, they're just idiots, like all terrorists.

I was talking with some people from the IRA and they were extremely polite and very reasonable people.
I did not have any moment the idea that these people ever could deal with arab terrorists.
IRA and arab terrorists are just two very different worlds.
Northern Ireland was an ethnic conflict strictly localized on Northern Ireland and perhaps some reservations towards the British.
The whole conflict seemed absolutely not important to the rest of the world.

well the ira was involved all over the world at the height of their (ampaign but not any more. they're more for the pea(e line now.
its also that without the ira, we would have no idea how to deal with terroists so thanks ira :) :P

I also think that the IRA is more for negotiations as for a military action.
The time of military actions by the forces of the IRA seems to be over at the moment.
The political goals of the IRA and muslim terror groups are too different so that I hardly could imagine that there is a real cooperation.
This could only be if both groups would have a common enemy.

Okay, Frederik, just one more Question - If Hezbollah or Al-Quadia said to the IRA "We will assist you 100% and supply you 100%" would the IRA scrap the peace process? Just a though

I do not know the conditions and the problems of Northern Ireland good enough. I just could find out that the IRA and some Irish people seem to dislike the British and that loyalists to Britain dislike the Irish.
Hard to say what the different groups in Northern Ireland want to achieve especially from my foreign point of view.
At the moment it seems to be quiet and they seem to go a way of reconciliation.
Finally it regard it as a complete local British affair which they have to deal.
