Wow, I really thought there would be more answers here against the KJV. Let me take a try.

The original autographs of Scripture [I'm talking mainly New Testament with my examples] were not written in such a way that you had to be super-educated in order to understand. They were written in a language that everyone who knew Greek would be able to understands with ease. Also, there are some words and phrases that just don't translate very well from Greek to English. Those who translated the NIV, NLT, NASB, CEV, etc. took very good care to make sure that the point of the original greek gets across to the reader. I suggest one reads the translation notes at the beginning of any particular translation before they use it for study.

I also must beg another question: could being KJV only be detremental to the furthering of the Kingdom of God? What I mean by this is that "religious" language is often a turn-off for unbelievers [and believers, including myself]. Using a translation that is easy to understand makes it much easier to explain the Gospel to the lost.

Another thing I must point out is that not every American can send a man to the moon, split a neutron, clone, or create the best technology ever ;)

    • Do Hebrews have to make a "easier to understand Bible for ,"Less intellegent Jews?", do Greeks have to do the same thing for Greeks? Read my second answer.

    • That's not my point.
If other [and better, imo] translations bring people to Christ, do you think God cares? The KJV was authorized by King James, not God Himself. Even the people who translated the KJV said that better translations would come along.

    • This was my question, right? I am asking for a answer, not a opinion. Our job is not to explain, but to profess and teach. The Holy Spirit will explain, and remove the scales from sinners eyes. Who are we to make an easier way to God, it never works.

    • General, ur question is one i ask also, but i remember a time when i did not understand the KJV for many many years...i was Blessed one day...and it all started making sense....God has said many will remain blinded....the MESSAGES are there no matter...but the real watered down ,cleaned up ,assuming, and presuming came from Jewish Scribes and lawyers ....but God made sure the simple laymen can understand...i use KJV but preference is the William Tyndale ,Living Bible...I liked his history ,a martyr for the WORD to the simple plowman...they say that 90% of the KJV came from Tyndales EXCELLANT translation ...God is Great..:)justme
