Well, it's kind of interesting in this scenario.
A male/female previously abused by their parents, will be likely to pass it on. Males seeing their mother abused (Unless they kill the abuser) will abuse their spouses.
A female will "accept" this as she saw her mother abused and she did nothing.
A study (I think Kinsley) also showed that when asked the following to 10,000 males:
"If you would never be caught, never be exposed and never be known to have had sex with a minor, would you?"
42% of the respondents said they would...
Scary. No I don't think for one moment it's a "Chemical Imbalance" in the brain.
That would be like saying "I was born to be___________ and so I "Can't help it"

Would young boys be safer from sexual abuse if we had women priests and women coaches? What could it hurt to try it out, right?
