Not a parent but I'll tell you my story. For years my doctor was trying to get me to wear glasses. I didn't want them my mother wasn't going to try and force them on me, when I was in 6th grade though my mother had gotten enough complaints and made me get glasses. No amount of bribing, coaxing and not being able to see could get me to wear my glasses and within 2 yrs my eyesight was worse and those glasses were worthless. When I went to get my license in 11th grade I KNEW I couldn't pass the eye test given at the testing site without glasses so I got a new prescription at first I started just wearing them to drive but soon enough I realized HOW much better I could see with them and now, I can't imagine not having glasses.

So I have 2 possible helpful hints. One, if your child refuses to wear glasses they obviously don't need them that bad. Two, if they do need them that bad, try getting your child to wear them just when you are together, outside of school, where the embarrasment is less, your child may realize it is better to wear them and that realization is the only thing that's going to work.

Oh, and make sure the glasses are fashionable. There is nothing worse then an ugly pair of glasses for a kid.
